✳️ OUTDOOR GRASS RULES

No Let Serves

No SCREENING. The serving team must NOT prevent the receiving team from being able to see EITHER the server OR the flight of the ball. Opponent can request a player to move sideways, bend over or bend down.

No Open Hand Receive. Hands may be open as long as no finger action. Both hands must be together. Open Hand is legal only on hard driven hits that is downward in trajectory.

No SET OVERS (regardless square or not)

No Open Hand Tip or Push

Block doesn't count as a touch. The blocking team will have three more touches after a blocking contact.

REACHING You may NOT reach over, penetrate or block a set as the other team is attempting to set the ball, except when the ball crosses the plane of the net. You may attempt a defensive block, but if you reach over or penetrate the net while in setting motion and the ball is still on their side of the net, it's a point for the other team.

A ball that is slowed down by a block touch is not considered hard driven and cannot be played with open hand. That means you cannot play the ball with open hand after a block touch (even if your intention is to open hand set the ball).

During a block, a consecutive (quick and continuous) contacts may occur provided that the contacts are made during one action (i.e. ball rebounds off of the hand and head of the blocker while in blocking motion).

Continuation Rule - If you touch the net after the ball is down, and it's part of your follow-through, it's a net violation (hitting or blocking)

Stricter Hand Setting : Ball must be contacted simultaneously with little to no spin upon release (spin is not a true indication of double contact, but for our purposes/level - we can use it as a guide). Call your own double contact please!
