Do players get notified when they receive an account credit or refund?

When players are credited or refunded, they will receive a message in their OpenSports chat (or email, if they are set up to receive notifications via email).

Group Account Credit

If a player cancels their registration before the event’s cancellation policy deadline, they will automatically receive group account credit to use toward a future event, league, or tournament within the same group who issued it.

If a group cancels an event, the group has the option to issue either:

  • Group account credit, or

  • A refund back to the original form of payment

Note: This decision is entirely up to the group admins.

Group account credit is applied to the player’s OpenSports account immediately and can be used right away.

Refunds to original form of payment

If a refund is issued back to the player’s credit card, they will still receive a message confirming it. However, the actual refund will take 5–10 business days to appear in their bank account.

Note: Players must check their own bank account to confirm when the refund is received.
