Greetings - I have a small group of laid-back, mostly out-of-shape, 30-somethings. We're in desperate need of some new blood for weekly pickup broomball games. We play mostly late Sunday afternoons at Red Oak Park in Burnsville. Open to other nights depending on schedules. We prefer half-rink games with less participants than a typical full-rink 6-on-6 broomball match. We've had the most fun playing 85' with two nets, 4-on-4 with dedicated goalies or 3-on-3 with floating goalies. One all-time offense playing on a single net has also worked well when we can only get four or five.
I have two weekly diehards and two to three that are less-than-diehards. Hoping that we will be able to add another player to half-a-dozen players to make these weekly games more reliable and enjoyable. If you've played on league broomball games, this is a great chance to tune-up your ballhandling, passing, shooting, and goaltending skills in a low-key, spirited, but not highly competitive setting. Most of us aren't wearing helmets, broomball shoes, or a lot of padding for these pickup games, but we won't be offended if you use any or all. If your league team has a few individuals interested in a half-rink scrimmage/sparring partner, you've come to the right place. If you're an individual who's new to the sport, you've come to the right place. We usually have two to three spare sticks that we're willing to loan out on a you break it you buy it policy.
The twin rinks at Red Oak are free and generally very reliable. There are a number of alternative rinks in the area on the rare occasions that we get shutout. Outdoor rink season usually runs from mid-December through February. Same group does pickup basketball and ball hockey when the ice melts.
Please be aware that payments are not refundable.
